Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the Orbis Signal website at orbis-signal.com and related online services operated by Jan Wir-Konas (trading as Orbis Signal), Auf der Dorn 24, 40764 Langenfeld (Rheinland), Germany.

By using the website or creating an account, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

Orbis Signal is operated independently prior to incorporation. The operator named above is the contracting party until we notify you otherwise.

Orbis Signal publishes intelligence briefings on global politics, finance, and technology. You can read editions on the website, listen where a podcast is offered, and use our public content API. Creating an account is optional and free.

Access to published briefings is currently free of charge. There is no paid membership, checkout, or content paywall on the live service. If that changes, we will update these Terms and tell you before any charge applies.

Briefings are information and analysis produced through the editorial process described on our Methodology and Transparency pages, including the use of artificial intelligence. They are not individualized investment, legal, tax, medical, or other professional advice. You remain responsible for decisions you take.

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account or otherwise use the service in a way that requires personal data. The service is not directed at children.

You may browse published content without an account. If you create an account, you can sign in with an email link, a password, or Google or Microsoft.

• You must provide accurate information and keep your sign-in details confidential.
• You are responsible for activity under your account except where caused by our fault.
• Notify us promptly at contact@orbis-signal.com if you suspect unauthorized access.
• We may suspend or close accounts for breach of these Terms, abuse, or a legal requirement.

All intellectual property in the website, briefings, podcasts, and related material remains with us or our licensors. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to access and use the service for your own information, including ordinary internal professional use.

You may not, without our prior written permission:

• Resell, sublicense, or systematically republish briefings or other content to unaffiliated third parties.
• Scrape, crawl, or harvest the service or content by automated means beyond ordinary use of our public API within documented limits.
• Circumvent security or access controls.

Source material cited in briefings remains subject to the rights of the original publishers.

You must not:

• Use the service unlawfully or infringe third-party rights.
• Upload malware, attack our infrastructure, or attempt unauthorized access.
• Harass our staff or other users.
• Misuse forms, sign-up, or TestFlight applications (including automated or repeated abuse).

If you apply for the private iOS beta, we may invite you through Apple TestFlight. Participation is optional, free, and at our discretion. Apple's terms apply to TestFlight itself. The beta may change or end at any time.

We aim for reliable availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access. Maintenance, third-party outages, or force majeure may cause downtime. We may modify or discontinue features. We may update these Terms; the current version is published on this page with the date above. If a change is material, we will provide reasonable notice where required by law.

We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body, or health, and under the German Product Liability Act (Produkthaftungsgesetz) where applicable.

For slight negligence we are liable only for breach of essential contractual duties (cardinal obligations), limited to foreseeable, typical damage at the time of contract. Essential duties are those whose fulfilment makes the contract possible and on which you may regularly rely.

Briefings are informational. We are not liable for decisions you make based on content except where liability cannot be excluded under mandatory law.

These limits do not affect mandatory consumer rights that cannot be waived.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer, mandatory protections of the country where you live remain unaffected.

If you are a merchant, a legal entity under public law, or a special fund under public law, the exclusive place of jurisdiction is the courts of North Rhine-Westphalia, where legally permitted.
