Beijing conditions September summit on Taiwan arms decision

Beijing has told Washington that it intends to cancel the September 24 Xi-Trump summit if pending arms transfers to Taiwan are approved beforehand. The ultimatum coincides with executive review of a proposed $14 billion PAC-3 and NASAMS package, strained US inventories and an approximately $30 billion backlog of approved but undelivered Taiwanese purchases.
