Canada and EU explore bespoke association model

Prime Minister Mark Carney has proposed an unprecedented EU associate status for Canada following the collapse of US-Canada trade negotiations and reciprocal tariff escalation. Talks cover strategic-sector procurement, standards and circulation of goods, services and personnel, but Canada’s integration with US manufacturing will constrain the pace of any shift.
