Africa’s economies are projected to grow by 4.2% in 2026, according to the 2026 African Economic Outlook released by the African Development Bank Group.
The forecast represents a slight moderation from estimated growth of 4.4% in 2025, but the outlook still points to resilience across the continent despite a difficult global backdrop. The report highlights challenges including heightened geopolitical tensions, tighter global financial conditions and supply chain disruptions.
Inflation remains a major obstacle. The African Development Bank projects inflation of 10.4% in 2026, a level that would continue to test macroeconomic stability and growth prospects across African economies.
The outlook underscores both the durability of growth on the continent and the risks posed by elevated prices and external financial pressures.
