Cloudflare is laying off more than 1,100 employees globally, about 20% of its workforce, as the internet infrastructure and cybersecurity company restructures operations around the rapid adoption of artificial intelligence tools.
The company has framed the cuts as part of an effort to reimagine every team and function for what it calls an “agentic AI era.” Cloudflare’s chief executive said the company’s internal use of AI has increased sixfold in the past three months, prompting substantial changes to how the business operates.
According to the report, the chief executive said the layoffs were not because Cloudflare was struggling. Instead, the restructuring reflects the company’s view that AI is changing the organization of work across its operations, even as the decision results in significant job losses across its global workforce.
