Penpa Tsering has been sworn in for a second consecutive term as president of Tibet’s government-in-exile, the Central Tibetan Administration, in Dharamshala, India.
The ceremony took place in the presence of the Dalai Lama. Tsering’s renewed term keeps him at the head of the exile administration as it continues to advocate for Tibetans outside Chinese control.
In remarks tied to the new term, Tsering reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to the “Middle Way Policy.” That approach seeks a nonviolent resolution to the Tibet issue and dialogue with the Chinese government.
