Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned that Russia was preparing a “massive new strike” on Ukraine, urging Ukrainians to take protective measures as the war continued to spill pressure across the region.
The warning came as a Russian drone reportedly crashed into a residential building in Romania, a NATO member, injuring two people. The incident drew strong condemnation from Romania and its allies and added to concerns about the risks posed to countries bordering Ukraine.
The fighting also extended inside Russia. Ukrainian forces carried out a drone attack in Russia’s Belgorod region, killing two people and injuring two others, according to the research summary.
Separately, the United Nations has included Russia on a blacklist for sexual violence in conflict, adding another formal international censure of Moscow’s conduct during the war.
The developments underscored the breadth of the conflict’s consequences: Ukraine bracing for another major wave of Russian attacks, a NATO member reporting injuries from a drone crash, and cross-border Ukrainian strikes continuing in Russian territory.
